His sworn enemy… and perfect bride
Gavriil. My childhood taught me love can’t offer the security my billions can. I poured my soul into the family empire for that reason. If my late father thinks he can take it all away by stipulating I marry or lose my inheritance, he underestimated me…
Juliette. I’ve spent my career as an investigative reporter taking down men corrupted by wealth, so Gavriil Drakos’s convenient proposal shocked me. I told myself I agreed only because he’s returning the beloved home his father stole from mine. Yet, at the altar, I surrender to Gavriil’s dangerously intoxicating kiss…

Deception at the Altar is the beginning of the Brides for Greek Brothers series, bringing us Juliette’s and Gavriil’s tumultuous romance.
Gavriil’s father, Lucifer Drakos, was aptly named for he is, indeed, the devil incarnate. A ruthless, cruel, abusive man in life, his evil reach is now extending beyond the grave, as he is still trying to control his sons (half-brothers) with his last will and testament, demanding that they each marry quickly… or they lose their inheritance. Gavriil has worked too hard, given up too much at the insistent demands of his father as he worked tirelessly at the family business, his legacy in a way, to allow his father to steal yet another thing from him… the company that he has given his blood, sweat, and (if he ever cried) tears for. Gavrill will determine to beat his father at his own game, and offers a marriage of convenience to a woman with her own axe to grind against the Drakos family.
Juliette has spent her career as an investigative reporter taking down corrupt, evil men like Lucifer Drakos—a man who once stole her beloved home from her father. When Gavriil offers a chance to have that home returned to her, with strings attached, she’s tempted for it’s not only a way to take back what was her family’s property, but, in a way, defeat a man she despised at his own game… that Gavriil intrigued her, even attracted her in a physical way was only icing on the cake of her revenge. She didn’t expect to like her husband, or to fall in love with the son of the devil. But Gavriil is nothing like his father… or so she hopes.
Both Juliette and Garviil are broken in different ways by circumstances beyond their control. Their undeniable attraction to each other will lead to seeing each other (and perhaps themselves) more clearly, to take the risk of falling in love with someone who was once thought to be the enemy, to take control of their lives out of the hands of evil, and deliver it to each other.
I enjoyed Deception at the Altar by Emmy Grayson. It is well-written, emotional, and sets up the background of the series nicely, as we’ll also meet Gavriil’s half-brothers, Rafe and Michail, briefly. If you enjoy a sensuous romance with, perhaps not enemies to lovers but two people taking revenge on a common enemy… and falling in love along the way, then you’d love Juliette and Gavriil.
