Island Storms is the third title in the Amberjack Shores series, and continues the saga of the Dalton family, along with the unique people who enter their lives.

I felt that Island Storms felt a bit softer, very much like the calm before the storm that is just off the horizon, slowly building.  Not that that was a bad thing in any way, just a deeper dive into the changes in so many lives, the growing friendships that might turn into something so much more with time, the difficult decisions that will change the direction of lives, hopefully for the better… in the long run.

I loved watching the slowly changing dynamics of Becca and Tyler’s relationship, and felt the conflict in Katie as she made a life-changing decision in her relationship with Jake.  So many possibilities if people are only willing to trust, take a few risks, and perhaps most importantly, believe in their right to choose what makes them happiest.  We’ll see glimpses of the growing storms in Matt’s life as his choices will have a profound impact on so many lives.  And, of course, that slight cliffhanging ending that prepares us for what is to come in the next book.

I enjoyed this visit to the Daltons’ world, a comforting, learning journey, one full of possibilities and changes to come in many lives.  If you love a well-written, emotional, engaging family saga with touches of humor, conflict, and even danger, then you’d love Island Storms by Laura Abbott.  I’m so looking forward to my next visit.
