Savannah is tired of the dating scene, even though she wants to get married and have a family. She knows her mother will never move on with her own life as long as Savannah is single. Savannah goes to see a matchmaker, specializing in setting up couples who meet at the altar. At first, she thinks Scott is a dream come true, but his blundering soon makes her crazy.

Scott, a Montana bison rancher, doesn’t have time to find a wife. His work is all-encompassing. Besides, he tends to have a hard time getting women to go out with him more than once. When he runs into a matchmaker he’s known all his life, he tells her about the problems he’s had to see if she can help him. When he meets Savannah at the altar, his heart stops for a moment. She’s exactly what he’s looking for. Will their diverse backgrounds keep them apart? Or will they be able to work through their differences to make their marriage a loving relationship?

Read on for my thoughts on Married in Montana.  No true spoilers, promise.

Married in Montana is a delightful romance with unusual beginnings.

Scott and Savannah have chosen a matchmaker who matches people up with the intention of marriage, sight unseen.  In fact, the first glimpse each will have of the other is at the altar where they will be tied in holy matrimony.

This is a clean Christian romance.  Sure, there are discrete sex scenes, after all these two people are married, but the main focus of the story is their learning about each other, taking two strangers and making them a wedded unit with the hope and desire of finding love with their mate.

For me this was a story filled with laughter and tears.  Scott is truly a clueless male.  This poor guy couldn’t bumble a relationship more if he truly tried to.  And his attempts at romance were purely comical and endearing..  He tries, oh how he tries… but, let me give you one brief example of how his mind isn’t working.  After a discussion of wifely duties in the home, cooking and such Scott tries to make up for being a well, neanderthal male by giving Savannah a gift.  A dusty, wrapped in Christmas paper obviously left on a shelf somewhere – a top of the line mixer, that was intended for his mother who had died shortly before Christmas.  He re-gifted a present meant for his dead mother – to his brand new wife to make up after a fight.  Ladies?  Can we all shout out… Clueless!

Savannah is a sweet lady who simply wants a good marriage.  But when Scott has objections to her working, and his cluelessness about anything romantic or the mind of a female – she is beginning to wonder if she’s made a mistake.  But she’s starting to have feelings for him and will slowly and surely (if not always calmly) try to teach him what being a modern day husband should be.

I really enjoyed Married in Montana.  The characters were engaging and realistic.  If you enjoy a love story that is light on the sex, and heavy on the feels and the chuckles at the cluelessness that is Scott – you will like this novel.  Pick it up and enjoy.

*I received an e-ARC of Married in Montana from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
