Darkness becomes her…

Rugged, commanding, and undeniably sexy, Brandon Scott is the reason Gwen’s alive, but she isn’t sure about this mountain man who’s mischievous yet careful with her. He drives her nuts, but keeps her smiling. Every kiss sends her reeling with desire, but every mishap makes her smack him, annoyed. Despite his brazen attitude and rough ways Brandon charms her every time he flashes that bad boy smile. He’s not the type of man Gwen usually goes for, but then again she’s never fallen for a werewolf. This werewolf has her hooked. And neither Gwen nor Brandon seems very concerned that she’s a vampire. Vampires and werewolves don’t mix.

Caught up in their sudden romance, Gwen moves into Brandon’s cabin where falling in love and making love are their only priorities. But when Gwen discovers she isn’t the only hiker who was saved from death, she begins to unravel a dark secret that threatens to divide them, and an ancient power called primal darkness is at its core.

A vampire amongst werewolves, Gwen investigates alone. The closer she gets to discovering the truth, the greater the rift between her and the man she loves. Brandon’s keeping something from her, but the vampire who turned her isn’t. Refined, inviting, and highly seductive, Christoph Barone would do anything for her and Gwen can’t deny the temptation. His hands are strong, yet smooth as silk. Every touch melts her. And when he looks at her with those piercing green eyes she feels a connection so deep it takes her breath away. But isn’t Brandon the one?

As primal darkness rises, the two men vie for her heart. Gwen is torn between her werewolf lover and the love of a man who’s like her, a vampire. She must choose before the dark power makes the choice for her. If it does, it could mean her life.

Read on for my thoughts on Primal Darkness.  No true spoilers, promise.

Again, Primal Darkness is part of a trilogy where the first two books end on a cliffhanger leading into the next – and ending story, Wild Hearts.

Also, again – there is really little I could tell you or tempt you with about the story in Primal Darkness for you have more than enough in the cover blurb to tell you what this story is all about.

What I can let you know is that in this story there are far more than a couple steamy sex scenes – this one would qualify (in my opinion) as Erotica.  The sex scenes are hot, steamy, sensuous, imaginative… and the actual story of Brandon and Gwen’s love takes a second place to the sex, constant sex scenes.  I love time between the covers as much as anyone – but I was looking for a lot more about the secret that is being hidden at Sanctuary, what exactly will Primal Darkness let loose on an unsuspecting world.  We will see a rift start to form between our couple as Brandon begins to show us more of his own dark side – and he really didn’t come off as the nice guy for me.  I was kinda disappointed with him – hoping he redeems himself real soon.

With underlying half-truths, Primal Darkness begins to give us the ugliness that has been hidden, and perhaps more corruption than even the leaders realize.  The action parts were intense, the sexy parts were definitely inventive and the love of Brandon and Gwen is a bit more shaky now.  I’m starting to wonder if they really will make it together at the end.  Guess we’ll find out in the last installment, Wild Hearts.

As much as I enjoyed this story and the continuation of the suspense… I just wish, personally, that this story had decided to stay a paranormal romance and not a paranormal erotic novel.  To be honest, for me this much sex just took away from the story I wanted to hear about.  It was a distraction.  Never thought I’d consider sex to be that.  I will still recommend it, it is a very good story at the base.  And of course – this is just my opinion.

*Any review is just one person’s opinion. You might feel the same or totally different. The only way to know for certain is for you to read it. This was my opinion of this particular book.*
