Risking His Heart for the ER Doc begins the US Search and Rescue series.  Sometimes a kiss is just a kiss… other times it could change your life.  Or at least, linger long afterward.  Andy is a trauma surgeon and a member of the search and rescue team.  If asked, he’d say that he’s content with his life, even if he sometimes wishes for more.  He’s about to get a second chance with the girl who got away so long ago, but can he get past her defenses and her emotional history?  He’s going to need a lot of patience, and maybe a bit of luck, but he’s not giving up until he discovers if she remembers that high school kiss the same way he does.

Jules is an ER doctor and a new member of the same search and rescue team that Andy volunteers with.  She’s just coming out of a messy divorce, doesn’t trust any male of the species right now, and simply wants to spend time giving herself some tender loving care.  Yet, she cannot deny that there are sparks flying with her old friend, Andy.  Could they lead to a future together?  To know that, she’s going to have to lower her walls… and she’s not sure if she’s ready to do that.

I enjoyed Risking His Heart for the ER Doc, and watching Jules and Andy lower those walls of theirs long enough to take a risk, to explore these feelings for each other that just keep growing.  They each have baggage that needs tending to; Jules needs healing from her past, yet together they fit, they work.  Their story is well-written, emotional, and sets up the rest of the series nicely.  I’m already looking forward to the next story in the series.  If you enjoy a second-chance romance filled with emotions and issues to be faced together, then you’d love Risking His Heart for the ER Doc by Traci Douglass.
