Rogue Cowboy is the third title in the Montana’s Rodeo Cowboys multi-author series, and brings us Riley and Cole, a couple who entered into a secret marriage of convenience a while back, and now have to face their feelings for each other as Cole wants to take that secret and turn it into a reality for them both.
We return to Marietta, Montana, once again for the Copper Mountain Rodeo, where Cole wants to change the status of his secret marriage, and Riley is gearing herself to say goodbye to the man she loves but doesn’t deserve (in her mind, at least). Six years ago, Riley and Cole met in Los Angeles, as he was simply checking in on his friend’s sister. There were sparks, but neither acted upon that attraction as Cole was about to be deployed and Riley was working on her musical career.
A devastating event happened that shook Riley’s world, changed the path of her career, and Cole stepped in with a marriage of convenience solution. He had her return to her family’s ranch in Marietta, believing that she’d tell them what happened, explain their marriage, and begin the healing process she so desperately needed.
Unfortunately, the only part of that plan was that Riley had returned home, never mentioning anything that had happened on the West Coast, including her marriage to Cole. Now, they are about to meet once again. This time, Cole wants to acknowledge the attraction between them and work on making their secret marriage very real and out in the open. Riley is far different from the woman Cole married. She’s had time to bury the pain of what happened, ignore the chemistry between them, and prepare for Cole to want out of their marriage.
What she never expected was for Cole to want her, to court her, to offer her the chance to heal while falling in love with her husband. She only sees the reasons that she’s not good enough, and he only sees that she’s everything he’s wanted in a future. Secrets are about to be revealed, and perhaps, future happy ever afters are on the horizon if they’ll take a few risks and let their hearts guide them to each other.
I enjoyed Rogue Cowboy by Sinclair Jayne so much. It’s a well-written, emotional, and completely satisfying experience as we watch this couple work their way back to each other and what the heart desires. If that’s your kind of romance, then you’d love their story.
