In December, retired police officer Hendrix Becker shuts down his quiet RV park on the Oregon coast to disappear from the world. Haunted by a tragic Christmas past, he has made solitude his only refuge.
But this year, someone stays behind.
Josephine Collins, with her young son, has nowhere else to go when danger from her past resurfaces.
Against his instincts, Hendrix lets them stay. What begins as a tense arrangement slowly softens as Josephine’s courage and her son’s laughter begin to penetrate the ice around his heart. As trust builds, so does something deeper—something neither of them expected.
But Josephine’s past isn’t done with her yet. And when the threat gets too close, Hendrix must confront his own ghosts if he wants to protect the woman and child who’ve become his reason to believe again.

Title: The Accidental Christmas

My Rating: 4.5 stars
The Accidental Christmas is the fourth title in the multi-author series, Wild Rose Point, all written by several of my favorite authors. This time, we have a lovely romance between Hendrix, the owner of an RV campground (and a retired police detective), and Josephine (Joey), a single mom dealing with an asinine ex and doing the best she can for her son, Ryder. Spoiler alert: Ryder steals every scene he’s in.
Every December, Hendrix shuts down his RV park. The memories that are always in the back of his mind take over during this month, and all he wants is to forget the season and have the world leave him alone with his thoughts. Unfortunately, Joey cannot just move out of the small cabin she’s renting at the park; in fact, she can barely scrape together this month’s rent due to her ex-husband’s neglect not only of his son but of his child support payments as well. She has a plan; she just hopes that Hendrix will agree.
Hendrix has always had an attraction to Joey, a woman whom he admires for her care not only for her son but also for anyone within her orbit. She’s strong, resilient, and so far he hasn’t acted on that attraction… but that’s about to change. Joey holds her independence around her like a shield. She’s perfectly capable of taking care of Ryder on her own, without help. Sure, she’s broke at the moment, but that will not stop her from giving her kid the best Christmas possible… even if that involves Hendrix, whom Ryder worships. When danger arrives on her doorstep, Hendrix is there to protect and defend the woman and child he’s come to love… now he just has to convince Joey that he’s a safe bet for their future.
I loved everything about The Accidental Christmas. Hendrix is actually quite a handsome Grinch who is learning to let his heart and his past grow beyond being bottled up in his head. The attraction was mutual, yet they both had baggage to be dealt with. I adored Ryder; he has some of the best dialogue in this one. Their story is well-written, emotional, and full of memories, regrets, and possibilities for the future. If you love a romance with a somber hero finding his way back into the light through the love of a good woman and an adorable little boy, then you’d love Joey and Hendrix’s story.
