Cover Description:
Alexander Hunt, Eighth Duke of Berresford, is aware his ward’s governess misrepresented herself to gain employment, and he’s quite displeased, even if she is one of the most intelligent women he’s ever met. His ward deserves a reputable governess, so he threatens to give Adriana the sack mere days before Christmas.
Desperate to convince the sexy duke not to tear her from the little girl she’s grown to adore, Adriana challenges him to prove she’s not the reputable governess he believed he hired. If he can seduce her before the Twelve Days of Christmas have come to an end, she will leave without protest.
But when they find the challenge more difficult than either imagined, can they face the consequences of their decisions?
Read on for my thoughts on The Twelve Days of Seduction. No true spoilers, promise.
Adriana is not what she represented herself as when she took the governess position. But she is a more than competent governess, one who cares for her charge and has helped her learn and overcome so much. The thought of Alexander dismissing her now, so close to Christmas is unthinkable. She can do so much good for his young ward and she adores the little girl so much. No, she will fight to stay – even if it means she will lose her heart in the end.
Alexander is quite up for the challenge Adriana has put to him. After all, with his own charms and the reputed reputation of this young woman it will be so very easy to win this challenge in mere days. He hadn’t considered Adriana’s determination to stay and he hadn’t considered his own attraction for this vibrant, intelligent woman who is beginning to weaken his resolve.
When The Twelve Days of Seduction was originally released in 2013 it was under the author name of Marie Claremont, who is also the pen name of Eva Devon which the reprints of this novel now show as the author… just to clear up any confusion about author names. 🙂
I enjoyed this quick novella very much. Once Adriana’s deception was uncovered by Alexander, she no longer had to hide her true personality from him. Gone was the meek and fearful for her job governess and out came the true Adriana. The woman who has survived a life that would have crushed most women of any time period. She revealed the passionate novelist who fought her own battle against the ways the underprivileged were treated by the titled society through her stories. While Adriana always had been attracted to Alexander, and loved Georgiana, her young charge with all her heart – what she actually longed for was to be a part of their lives in a closer manner, to be family. Of course, that could never have happened before — but now she has to fight for that chance.
