Her husband ignores her warning and opens their newest luxury hotel anyway. The launch is a public disaster. And he lets his wife take the fall for his decision.
For fifteen years, Laurel Weller has built a luxury-hotel empire beside her billionaire husband, Julian. She is his cofounder and the woman who has spent their entire marriage turning his impossible ambitions into reality.
She agreed to take the blame for one disastrous opening. She never agreed to let that one sacrifice become the story of her entire career.
Months later, Laurel has been publicly disgraced, erased from the company she helped build, and replaced by a new female executive who has become Julian’s right hand.
Julian is still the brilliant billionaire founder.
And Laurel is the failure everyone believes he had to replace.
She’s done.
Done protecting him. Done watching another woman step into the role Laurel spent fifteen years building. Done being privately loved by a husband who was willing to let her be publicly erased.
By the time Julian finally realizes exactly what he has lost, Laurel is already building a life without him.
And if he wants his wife back, apologies won’t be enough.

Title: The Wife He Let Take The Fall
Series: The Husbands Who Lost Them #4
Author: Romy Venn
Published: October 6, 2026
My Rating: 4.5 stars
The Wife He Let Take The Fall is the fourth title in The Husbands Who Lost Them series. The series includes stand-alone romances with a shared theme and style of story —they can easily be read on their own, but I’m definitely going back to the beginning. This is my first time reading Romy Venn’s work, and I really like their “voice”, the way they tell the story. The cover description tells you everything you need to know before picking up Julian and Laurel’s romance. What it doesn’t tell you is the emotional impact their story will have on you, or how easy it is to see that, although this couple still deeply loves each other, they are in a very dark place right now… and only Julian can actually save this marriage. If he’s willing to do the hard things.
I’ve recently begun reading the Marriage-in-Crisis trope in romance, and The Wife He Let Take The Fall is an excellent example of why I’m drawn to them. There’s no cheating; the couple truly, deeply love each other, yet one decision can make a partner feel invisible, and one partner needs to admit to a failure they themselves caused within the relationship. In so many ways, for me, this story is very relatable and believable. Oh, I’m certainly not married to a billionaire or the COO of a huge luxury hotel line… the core of their problem is something anyone can relate to.
Julian and Laurel’s romance is well-written and deeply emotional, with real heartache. Laurel found herself outside her marriage, building a new career she fully embraces. Julian has to understand that his decision wasn’t only one disaster; it’s a pattern within their marriage that only he can change. Watching them work toward reconciling the issues their marriage faces was an emotional, deeply moving experience. If that sounds like your kind of romance, then you’d love this one.
