What the Cowboy Wants is the third title in The Westons of Montana series, and brings us an unexpected and growing attraction between Rose and Cooper, two people who had washed their hands of romantic entanglements… or had they?

I had so much fun with What the Cowboy Wants by Elsa Winckler.  Rose is desperate to get away, to disappear after a humiliating experience.  She doesn’t know it yet, but when that billboard for Marietta, Montana, showed up on her escape route, she was headed for home and possibilities she may not be ready for.  Maybe when she’s braver, right now she’s just trying to get through the day.

Cooper, ah, Cooper.  How I fell in love with this guarded cowboy, a man who is carrying a heavy burden in his heart.  A healer, a “whisperer” of frightened and wounded animals who find their way to his ranch… and sometimes healing humans as well.  Rose has some kind of hold on his heart, a connection that he’s trying desperately to ignore.  Yet watching this woman slowly heal, be taken in by the kindness of the women in his family and his hometown, had him considering possibilities that he had chosen to ignore for far too long.  Could he give his heart without reservations, or would his guilt and his abilities keep him on the outside looking in?

The Westons of Montana series just gets better with each additional sibling’s story.  I can’t wait for Willow’s journey, a stubborn woman, indeed.  If you love a well-written, emotional romance full of all the feels you could ever ask for, then What the Cowboy Wants by Elsa Winckler should be on your reading radar.  I’d recommend this entire series to anyone who gets swept up in a romance that is realistic and heartfelt.  Plus, a trip to my favorite fictional small town of Marietta, Montana, is always a treat.

Oh, an aside thought:  Did you notice that Rose Dalton shares a name with another now rather famous heroine from the movies… think Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” song. 🙂  I simply smiled when I noticed it.
