Story Blurb:

One small mistake in the past will change everything about her future... Archaeologist Sarah Baxter just broke one of the biggest rules of time travel: leaving a piece of 21st century equipment in 19th century Regency England. Unfortunately, when she goes back to retrieve it, she makes an even bigger mess of things—resulting in the death of an English Earl. Now his brother is not only out for revenge, but he also has Sarah’s device. Which means an entirely different approach is needed. It doesn’t occur to the new Earl of Earnston that his charming acquaintance is responsible for his brother’s death. He is merely swept away by a passion that threatens his very reputation. Yet he gets the distinct impression that Miss Baxter is hiding something from him. Now Sarah must find a way to steal back her device, hide the truth about the earl’s brother and—most importantly— not fall in love…

Read on for my thoughts on A Stolen Season.  No true spoilers, promise.

Four words.  Historical.  Romance.  Time-Travel.  I am in Reader’s Heaven.

A Stolen Season never got stuck on having to explain “how” Sarah did her time traveling – it was just an accepted fact.  That matters to me because I don’t have to figure out how they did it – it just simply exists in this world and I’m fine with that.

I don’t like to give away spoilers in my reviews.  To me this is just where I tell you my thoughts, not ruin your reading of the tale by giving you all the details.  I believe I need to be even more careful in a time traveling romance.  So let’s look at another aspect of A Stolen Season.

Love.  Love transcends even time.  While Eric is determined to find out who caused his brother’s death, he isn’t beyond being able to fall in love with a most unsuitable young lady.  One who uses phrases that make no sense to him at all.  (rule # 206 in time travel – speak the local time idioms… not the ones from the future)  This Lady is is obviously hiding something, but nothing mattered except claiming this charming creature as his own.  I adored Sarah.  She is strong -willed, independent, sexy and desperately trying to not fall in love.  To no avail it seems.

The world building was amazing.  It cannot be easy to combine our modern world with the ton of London’s Regency period.  But it was done seamlessly.  Overall, I loved every moment of reading A Stolen Season.  The story was captivating, the characters strong and likeable.  And it was just plain fun.  What more can a reader ask for?

I would highly recommend this one.  A rare 5 outta 5 for me.  Go pick it up – you’ll be charmed and captivated too.

*I received an e-ARC of A Stolen Season from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
