Story Blurb:

Named for the Goddess of Desire, can she dream of lasting happiness with only one man?

Selene Pertunda has no trouble attracting a man. She just can’t seem to find the right one. From abusive husband Robert to tattooed bad boy lover Kevin, Selene draws men to her like bears to her honeypot. The problem is that none of them proves to be a good fit.

Sure she will never find a shared happiness, Selene has no way to suspect she’s drawn the attention of a powerful goddess. So she scoffs at the idea that the handsome man who begins to play a large part in her life could be her destiny. After all, what could worldly, educated Beck McNeal want with a small-town girl like Selene?

Selene and Beck try to their best to resist the inexplicable mutual magnetism flaring between them. But can two ordinary people avoid the decree of the Goddess of Desire?

Read on for my thoughts on Getting It Right.  No true spoilers, promise.

I’m going to admit, in public no less, that this was an uncomfortable read for me – at times.  I totally “got” why Selene felt as she did at times.  Her insecurities, her constant questions about her own self-worth.  I “got” why she chose men who were just no good for her.  And why she felt as though she deserved no better than what she was given in life.  I “got” her.

I also applauded her determination to change her life around  (okay, maybe there was a spell or two at work here but I’m going to give Selene some credit for it).  Nothing changes in our lives until we, ourselves, make that first one.  It takes courage, bravery and not everyone can do that soon enough.

There were many times during the reading of this one that I just wanted to shake some sense into Selene – then shake even more sense into Beck.

I enjoyed Getting It Right very much.  The sizzle between Selene and Beck was there from the first awkward moment and just kept building.  The “help” from mystical powers was a fun inclusion in the story – it would have worked fine without it, but it was fun to have the “fairy godmother” type person involved in their happy ever after.

I would recommend this novel to anyone who loves a good love story, with a hero no longer in his youth (middle age, 40 something – and a heroine who’s implied age is in her 30s) but still hot enough to make the pages sizzle.  I would also recommend it for those that just want to step out of their comfort zone and see what else is “out there” – it’s a very good story, with a few life lessons in it for some who might benefit.

It gets a solid 4 stars from me.  Pick it up and enjoy the story.

*I received an e-ARC of Getting It Right from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange
