Single mom Rebecca Dorchester swore she’d never chase another bad decision—until she packs up her daughter and her sentimental father for a risky reunion with the biological mother and half-sisters she never knew in Marietta, Montana. She definitely doesn’t need the complication of a rugged, heart-stopping cowboy who catches her little girl mid-tumble on day one. But one smoldering look from Harrison Drake, and Rebecca’s carefully guarded heart starts to thaw.
Harrison Drake’s ranch is his entire legacy—land, cattle, and the family name he’s always expected to pass down. Lately, though, the empty spaces in his life have been louder than the Montana wind. When he meets Rebecca and her daughter, he knows exactly what he’s been missing: a woman to love, a family to build.
With old wounds, family drama, and hard-won trust on the line, can Rebecca risk her heart again—and can Harrison prove that this time, love isn’t just another complication?

The Cowboy’s Unexpected Family is the fourth title in The Bloom Sisters series, bringing it to a conclusion. It’s always a bittersweet moment for me when that last page of the final story is turned. I’ve enjoyed the stories, the love found, the shenanigans, the tears, and the joy as each of the sisters found their happy ending. Now I get to look forward to what this amazing author brings to us next.
Rebecca has spent her entire life in California. She has survived an abusive marriage, is raising a delightful daughter, and suddenly her father has decided that it’s time she met her birth mother, not the woman who helped raise her, a woman who has always been Rebecca’s “mom” until her passing a few years ago… but a woman who allowed her daughter to be raised without any contact between them. If it seems that Rebecca has an attitude, well, I’d say she’s entitled to that feeling. Her father and her birth mother recently reunited during a visit to California, and now she, her daughter, and her father are headed to the Bloom family flower farm outside of the small town of Marietta, Montana, which has a large ranching community. Rebecca’s not even certain she wants to meet this woman who obviously didn’t want her, but she does have three half-sisters. To say that Rebecca is running on emotional overload at the moment would be an understatement.
I loved everything about The Cowboy’s Unexpected Family. Just about every possible emotion comes into play at some point in this story: laughter and tears, anger and discovery, sadness and joy, finally finding the one person who understands you and accepts you for exactly who you are. Chrissy, Tilly, and Sunny all have to redefine what family is, and their particular place within that family dynamic. Imagine, you’re no longer the older, wiser sister. Or that your expected child will not be the first-awaited grandchild… that type of realignment of each sister’s place in this new family situation is about to be blown out of the water. Add to that a lovely romance between a rancher who has always been alone but longs for a family of his own, and you have a story full to overflowing with situations, emotions, and so much love… even if some is recently found. If that sounds like your kind of romance, then you’re going to love Rebecca and Harrison’s adventure.
