He runs the lodge by the numbers. She believes in magic. Falling for each other was never part of the plan…
Nate Lawson built Haden Creek Lodge into a thriving business by following one simple rule: Keep emotions out of it.
After a very public heartbreak, he’s focused on control, efficiency, and protecting what he’s built—no matter the cost. Especially when it comes to his employees.
Ivy Summers couldn’t disagree more. As the lodge’s event coordinator, she believes every wedding should feel like magic—and she pours her heart into making each one unforgettable.
But to Nate, her ideas are impractical. Too emotional. Too risky.
When a staffing crisis forces them to work side by side on a high-stakes destination wedding, their clashing visions become impossible to ignore. Because Ivy’s way works. And Nate can’t ignore her… no matter how hard he tries.
Late nights turn into lingering glances. Professional boundaries begin to blur. Their connection becomes impossible to deny.
But with a strict no-fraternization policy—and Nate’s past proving just how dangerous workplace romance can be—giving in to their feelings could cost them everything. Including the lodge. And each other.

Title: The Lodge Boss’s Secret Heart
Series: Haden Creek Hearts #8
Author: Davina Harrison
Published: April 16, 2026
My Rating: 4.5 stars
The Lodge Boss’s Secret Heart is the eighth title in the Haden Creek Hearts series, bringing Nate and Ivy together, two people with totally opposing views who discover love has no rules.
I enjoyed this story. It shows just how fine a line a romantic workplace relationship can be… and how inhuman Human Resources can actually be. Any budding romance can be complicated, but for Nate and Ivy, they’re also navigating Nate’s past and a corporation whose bottom line is profit, not whether a couple finds a happy-ever-after kind of life together. It’s a well-written, emotional, and engaging story. I love a small-town romance, and this town is full of amazing, sometimes quirky residents who often know everyone’s business… before the person being talked about does! If that sounds like your kind of romance, then you’d love this one.
