Reluctantly retiring from Special Forces following an injury, Noah Halliday returns to Texas seeking solitude through the holidays at his brother’s unoccupied ranch. Arriving late, he intends to crash in the first bedroom he finds, only to be chased out by a beautiful blonde brandishing a boot. New Plan.
The ranch has been leased to a group of women determined to challenge the traditions and beliefs of the male-dominated rodeo rough stock contractor world. There’s nowhere to hide. Never one to be idle, Noah pitches in, and his Christmas spirit is rekindled by the feisty cowgirl.
Emma Barrett had been a timid child until she’d been lifted onto the back of a bronc, and she finally discovered her skill and power. She excelled at the sport and is determined to solidify her place at Grit and Grace by training the new bronc she and her partners have heavily invested in. The last thing she needs is a horse whispering, sexy ex-soldier offering to work by her side this Christmas as she and her partners launch their enterprise.

Catching a Christmas Cowboy is the second title in the Grit and Grace series, bringing us Emma’s and Noah’s romance with a rather intense (if not only a bit funny) beginning. It seems that this couple intends to continue as they began… stubborn and not about to admit that a fierce attraction is brewing beneath their unique introduction.
Believing that his brother’s Texas ranch is unoccupied, Noah, a reluctantly recently retired Special Forces soldier, is about to get one big surprise as he crashes into the first bedroom he finds, the first bed available… only to find that this bed already has an owner, a feisty female currently attacking him with her boot! Great first impression, Noah!
I adored this couple from that first impressive meeting. They both have issues that will often get in their way of acknowledging the intense attraction between them. They will eventually be resolved, but it’s not going to be an easy dance for either of them. Emma is in charge of training the horses that the Grit and Grace Roughstock Company she owns, along with her friends and partners, will be offering to the rodeo. She’s not impressed (much) when Noah turns out to be somewhat of a horse-whisperer for their stubborn bronc, Freaky Frieda(who will often make appearances throughout this series).
The underlying suspense of the small, possible (but not provable) attacks against their company will continue adding a different type of tension to Noah and Emma’s unfolding love story. There is so much to love about Catching a Christmas Cowboy by Leah Vale, and I enjoyed watching this couple find their way to a forever love, along with the deepening connections to the other characters. If you enjoy a well-written, suspenseful, emotional romance, then you’ll love this one.
I own a Kindle edition of this title.

Be sure to visit our Last Stand, Texas page to catch up on the series that you might have missed over time. It’s quite an amazing and diverse community, with happily ever after endings guaranteed. (Much like the Marietta, Montana world)
